CAPTISOL® Licensing 

 CAPTISOL is a proprietary drug delivery technology. Preclinical evaluation, research and formulation development utilizing CAPTISOL may be conducted under the terms of a confidentiality agreement with CyDex. An initial sample of CAPTISOL can be sent to interested researchers as the confidentiality agreement is being put in place.

Technical assessment of CAPTISOL is usually performed in the laboratories of the client company. Once the confidentiality agreement is in place, research quantities of CAPTISOL can be ordered directly from CyDex under the terms of a standard price sheet. Animal studies utilizing CAPTISOL can be conducted under a simple agreement with CyDex.

A commercial license and supply agreement with CyDex must be executed before client companies begin human clinical trials. In special circumstances limited clinical use agreements are available. CAPTISOL is supplied to licensees through a negotiated supply agreement.

CyDex has the exclusive rights to patents protecting the use and composition of matter on CAPTISOL. Exclusive rights to use CAPTISOL for antifungal applications, and certain specific ophthalmic applications have been granted to client companies.

Licenses are negotiated on a single compound basis with terms reflecting the compound´s development phase and commercial potential. The basic transaction structure includes a fee upon signing, milestone payments and royalty on product sales.
